Southern California Edison (SCE) volunteers recently helped paint Tremont Hall, Avalon's community center on Santa Catalina Island. The event supported community businesses. About 50 SCE employees took part in the event. All the paint supplies were from Chet's Hardware, and lunch came from The Lobster Trap.

SCE collaborated with the city of Avalon’s Recreation Department on this refurbishment effort.

The Catalina Island Women’s Forum will receive a $5,000 grant from Edison International, the utility’s parent company, to help with this project. The Catalina Island Women’s Forum’s mission is to create solutions for women’s issues in their community. The group promotes the physical, mental, professional and business growth of Catalina women, emphasizing the strengths and skills each member brings to the organization and by concentrating available resources.

The event was sponsored by Edison’s Roundtable, the women’s employee resource group, in conjunction with SCE’s Local Public Affairs. These employee-led organizations represent a range of cultures, traditions, ethnicities, sexual orientation, gender, generations and life experiences and outlooks, and offer opportunities to get involved and give back.
