The exhibition, Chihuly at the Catalina Island Museum, will open on March 26, 2017 and run through December 11, 2017. Chihuly, an American sculptor, has mastered the alluring, translucent and transparent qualities of ice, water, glass and neon, to create works of art that transform the viewer experience.  He is globally renowned for his ambitious site-specific architectural installations in public spaces, and in exhibitions presented in museums and gardens worldwide.

7:15 a.m. to Noon - Volunteer at the James H. Ackerman Native Plant Nursery in Middle Ranch and enjoy a beautiful morning drive through the interior of Catalina. While at the nursery you will perform a variety of essential horticultural tasks, all while learning about Catalina’s unique environment and the native plant species found here. 48 hours advance notice required - leave Avalon at 7:15am and return by noon. Volunteer in the great outdoors while combing the sand for debris to help keep our windward beaches pristine. Clean-up locations (Shark Harbor, Little Harbor, Ben Weston and Cottonwood) rotate throughout the year. Meet at the Catalina Island Conservancy House, 125 Clarissa, at 9am, return at 1pm. The Catalina Island Museum looks to strengthen its relationship to Southern California art enthusiasts through two first-time exhibitions: José Guadalupe Posada: Legendary Printmaker of Mexico and Destination Paradise: 100 Years of Catalina Advertising Design. Posada is the first exhibition of Mexican Art to be presented on Catalina Island and Destination Paradise is mined from the museum’s rarely seen or exhibited permanent collection.
The exhibitions will be on view from December 23, 2017 through April 8, 2018.

The rustic village of Two Harbors is a favorite destination for Southern California boaters. Two Harbors hosts numerous events from yacht dog shows to the famous Buccaneer Days. The Banning House lodge, an historic inn, camping, vacation rental villas provide lodging.
