It’s been a busy time recently for Island service clubs like Avalon Rotary. World Polio Awareness Day was October 24, 2016, and members of Avalon Rotary staged an awareness booth on Crescent Street, placed donation buckets in area stores and held an awareness walk from Wrigley Stage to the Catalina Island Casino.  Funds raised will support immunizations against Polio through Rotary’s International Foundation.

A Chimes Tower Cleanup Day was held October 28, 2016 in partnership with Avalon Lion’s Club, Rotary Club of Avalon and the Chimes Tower Foundation. Three dumpsters full of green waste were removed along with many bags of trash. Special thanks to Catalina Transportation Services and Catalina Canyon Hotel for providing shuttle services for the over 20 volunteers who worked several hours on the cleanup, as well as to Fine Line Construction and Jordahl Construction for hauling and equipment!

The Inaugural Halloween in the Garden event held October 30, 2016 at Wrigley Memorial Botanic Garden featured three Rotary booths raising funds for Rotary and Interact programs on the Island.  Hot Dogs, Chili Dogs and Pop Corn were sold by Rotarians while members of Interact and Rotary partnered in both a face painting booth and bake sale booth.  Funds raised will be used in support of community programs respectively.

Avalon Rotary actively contributes to the betterment of the Island community by donating to local community charities. Made up of a vibrant group of community leaders and business people united in their belief that working together, they can make the world a better place, the club meets on Wednesdays, at noon, at the Catalina Canyon Resort .  Visiting Rotarians are always welcome.
