Avalon High School Theater Department presents their first show of the season

AVALON, CATALINA ISLAND - The Avalon High School Theater Department will be presenting their first show of the season on, Thursday December 3rd through Saturday December 5th.  The show is called "Competition Piece" by John S. Wells.

This great comedy play is about three different high schools preparing for a play festival.  Each high school has its own distinct personality.  The Arties, a performing arts school will be producing Shakespear's King Lear in the style of Japanese Kabuki Theater.  Then there are The Preppies, they produce a typical boy meets girl love story entitled Kiss Me Quick My lips Are on Fire.  And finally the Metal Heads, a group of misfits from a continuation school, their piece is entitled Betty, a troubled teenage problem play.

This show really challenges the student actors because they never leave the stage.  They play all the characters for each school by just making a slight costume change.  This is one to be seen.  Each performance will be at 7 pm in the school auditorium.  Tickets are $6.00 adults and $4.00 students/seniors.
