AVALON, CATALINA ISLAND - The Museum is pleased to invite you Thursday, October 1st at 7 p.m. to a booksigning for a beautifully written new publication, Islands Apart: A Year on the Edge of Civilization, by Ken McAlpine.
The author will do a reading from his latest publication and share some experiences during his travels and stays on the vaious Northern Channel Islands. McAlpine gives thoughtful insight into the environment, people and cultures surrounding the Channel Islands National Park Islands as well as other Southern California areas. The book is both great travel writing and a philosophical inquiry into modern life as juxtaposed against the quiet beauty of the islands.
McAlpine is an award-winning travel writer whose work has appeared in Sports Illustrated, Outside, Reader's Digest and the Los Angeles Times. He has also authored Off-Season: Discovering America on Winter's Shore.
