AVALON, CATALINA ISLAND - The 61st annual Catalina Ski Race begins July 11th at 8:53 a.m. sharp. Boats ranging from 18- to 43-feet will pull skiers from ages 12 to 77 from Long Beach to Catalina Island and back. The Catalina Ski Race is an exhilarating yet grueling test of athlete, equipment, team and racing boats.

Ski race fans can view the racing event from one of several places: Descanso Beach (the turning point), from Casino Dive Park or from Hamilton Cove. And, if you've got a private boat or dinghy, you'll probably have the best seats in the house, aside from the news helicopters swooshing around the sky.
