AVALON, CATALINA ISLAND - Join the American Cetacean Society for a day long trip around Catalina Island on the Catalina Flyer to watch the migration of the magnificent gray whales. The members of the Orange County Chapter sponsor the all day trip around Catalina Island, so people have an opportunity to see the whales migrating without so much interaction with boats along the shore.
Besides seeing the whales in their natural habitat, participants may also see seal lions, bald eagles, bison and many species of dolphins. This year's trip will be on March 8, 2009.
The boat leaves Newport Beach at 9 a.m. and stops briefly in Avalon to board additional passengers. The prices are: Adults: $75; ACS members: $60; Seniors $65; Students: $40; Children: $35 and for those who board in Avalon: $40.
