Avalon Hotels offering election night retreat

AVALON, CATALINA ISLAND - The madness is nearly over and Catalina Island's premier boutique hotels are celebrating by inviting voters to spend election night in style.

The Avalon Hotel and the Aurora Hotel and Spa will be offering a special Election Night Getaway on Nov. 4.

Getaway guests will be greeted with their choice of a stuffed donkey or elephant to grip when the election returns get particularly exciting as well as a bottle of champagne for either celebrating or drowning their sorrows. Third party, decline to state and apolitical guests don't have to feel left out. They will receive an island whale and champagne to toast the end of the election madness. While both hotels feature in-room flat screen televisions, those who would rather watch the election returns with fellow voters will receive a 15 percent discount at the nearby Landing Bar and Grill. All guests will receive an American flag memento of this momentous election.

Check-in time at both hotels is 3 p.m., leaving guests plenty of time to cast their ballots and take helicopter or boat transportation to the island.

On-line reservations are available for both hotels at our website listed below.

The ultra-modern Aurora features sleek style and cosmopolitan attitude. Off-season room rates start at $150. For more information, call (310) 510-0454.

The Avalon, TripAdvisors top rated Catalina hotel, surrounds guests with classic Craftsman style and understated elegance. Off-season room rates start at $195, for details call (310) 510-7070.

Just over the bridge from downtown San Diego and a short sail from Catalina is a small, tree-lined beach haven known as Coronado. Coronado is about a mile from downtown San Diego and is linked to the city by the Coronado-San Diego Bridge. Crown City, as it is called (Coronado means "crowned one" in Spanish), regards itself as a friendly, small town of wide leafy streets lined with Victorian homes & Californian bungalows.
