This Sunday, December 7th at 11:00 AM, Calvary Bible Church hosts a special Bible Teaching Fellowship & Communion Service in the front lobby of the U.S. Bank Building, 303 Crescent Avenue (near the corner of Crescent & Metropole), offering a 3-part study of the birth of Jesus Christ as recounted by the Gospels according to Matthew and Luke.

Catalina Island participates in the Great Southern California ShakeOut

On November 13, 2008, over 5 million people participated in the Great Southern California ShakeOut including citizens of Avalon and Catalina Island! In this simulated magnitude 7.8 earthquake scenario massive devastation to the City's infrastructure occurs along with long term interruption of vital services like water, fuel and electrical power. Roads are blocked by damaged structures and land slides and all communication between us and the mainland is lost. Scientist's like Lucy Jones of the US Geological Survey tell us that it's not a matter of if, but when an earthquake this size will occur and our drill becomes a reality!

It was under the lights last Friday that the Avalon Lancers met the Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals at an elegant Canyon High School football field for the Southern Conference CIF Quarter Finals and lost by one TD 28-21 ending the football dreams of the 10 seniors on the squad.

Cub/Boy Scouts Annual Food Drive

Friday, November 21, 2008 - Cub Scouts & Boy Scouts Unit #400
Avalon Troop and Pack 400 Cub and Boy Scouts will be participating in their annual dry and canned food drive on November 24th and 25th. Scouts will be dropping off food collection bags at local residences on Monday, November 24th from 4-6pm and will return to pick them up on Tuesday November 25th from 4:30-6pm. Bags of food can be left outside for pick up on Tuesday November 25th.
