The Avalon Hotel on Catalina Island was recently honored by the International Restaurant and Hotel Awards. The Avalon's "Endless Amenities" were singled out in the moderate hotel category. Other hotels sharing the honor are located in Bilbao, Spain, and Berkeley, California.
"We're honored by this award," said Avalon co-owner Kathleen Gosselin. "We've worked hard to make sure we're offering what our guests want." In addition to amenities like flat-screen televisions, Supplepedic mattresses and high-thread count sheets, The Avalon also offers complimentary in-room beverages and snacks, custom soaps and shampoos and custom furnishings.
While staying at the hotel, guests may also use laptops, binoculars, GPS units, backpacks, beach towels and more. The Avalon's "endless amenities" contributed to the International Restaurant and Hotel Awards also honoring the hotel for Best of City.
Dozens of hotels from throughout the world will be feted at the IRHA gala scheduled for November at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Travel Channel personality Mark DeCarlo will host the event. "Exposure from this award will benefit not just The Avalon, but also Catalina Island in general," Gosselin said.
This is not the first time The Avalon Hotel on Catalina Island has received official accolades. The hotel has twice been singled out by TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Awards, once for "Best Hidden Gem" and most recently as one of the top ten hotels for Romance in the United States.
