Save the date to attend a memorial event to celebrate the life of Dr. Robert "Bob" Given, 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, May 3rd at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, 3720 Stephen M. White Drive in San Pedro. Those planning on attending are encouraged to bring their favorite "Bob" stories, photos or slides to be shared during the evening.

Bob Given was best known on Catalina Island as Director of the University of Southern California Catalina Marine Science Center. He worked closely with Philip Knight Wrigley, President of the Santa Catalina Island Company, on the formation of the Catalina Island Conservancy.  He was elected as a lifetime Benefactor member in 1975 and continued his involvement with the natural history of Catalina Island, both terrestrial and marine. 

In August 2007, Dr. Given was honored by the Catalina Island Conservancy with the creation of the Robert Given Fund for Ocean Conservation which will fund the Conservancy's educational outreach and research activities related to the ocean.
