It's time once again to honor the Earth and learn more about what we can do to help the environment during the annual Earth Day Celebration and Eco-Fair,10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 19, at the Nature Center at Avalon Canyon.

There will be demonstrations and hands-on learning activities for the entire family, designed to illustrate what we can all do to help minimize our impact on our planet's precious resources, while having a lot of fun, too.
As an added bonus, entry to the Wrigley Memorial and Botanical Garden is free this Earth Day.

There will be interactive displays and informational tables from various environmental groups. Meet biologists and ecologists who are helping to protect and restore Catalina's wildlands. Enjoy being outside in nature! And, get a rare chance to meet the Conservancy's Education Catalina Island fox, "Ne Shun Tachi" ("Little Girl of Hope") - or "Tachi" for short.

The Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) from Toyon Bay will have its popular touch tank on hand for all to take their own personal aquatic exploration of the creatures that live just off Catalina's coast.

Learn about sustainable choices and green living from the staff of the Catalina Environmental Leadership Program (CELP) from Howlands Landing.

Get involved in the opportunity drawing, grab a plate of delicious organic food between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and enjoy the sounds of local musicians. If you're up for it, bring your instrument and be the "star" between sets.
For more information, call the Conservancy's Education Office at (310) 510-0954.
