LA County Fire Department Lifeguard Division Rescue Boat Weekly Activity

For the week of March 17th-23rd, 2008

3/17
14:00 Baywatch Avalon was hailed by a local charter vessel experiencing engine
problems off of the East End Quarry.  The Vessel with 7 persons onboard was taken in tow and safely delivered to Float 5 in Avalon Harbor.
21:14 Baywatch Avalon, Baywatch Cabrillo, Utility #55, Avalon Harbor Department and Coast Guard assets responded approximately 6 miles SE of Avalon for a reported man overboard off the Cruise ship "Paradise.   An extensive search was conducted in the area.  No person was located in the water and all persons were accounted for on the cruise ship.  County and the Avalon Harbor Dept. assets were released at 2330hrs.  Coast Guard assets continued their search until 0300hrs.  No victim was located but a few commercial fishing buoys were located in the area.  The search was suspended.
21:21 Baywatch Isthmus does a move up to the city Of Avalon to cover Baywatch Avalon response to the man overboard on the cruise ship 'Paradise'.
3/18 02:55 Baywatch Avalon  responded to a local hotel for an adult female complaining of abdominal pain.  Patient was assessed, treated, and transported to the local hospital for further evaluation and care.
14:32 Baywatch Avalon responded to the Base of the Green Pleasure Pier for and adult female with a medical complaint.  Patient was assessed, treated and transported to the local hospital for further evaluation and care.
19:07  Baywatch Avalon responded to the commuter boat terminal area for an adult male feeling week and dizzy.  Patient was assessed, treated, and transported to the local hospital for further evaluation.  After evaluation at the local hospital the patient was eventually transported to a mainland hospital by Air Squad # 18 for further care.
21:30 Baywatch Isthmus dispatched to the Chamber to meet  w a 24 Male w/possible stroke  after a scuba dive to 114'.  The patient was assessed and compressed to 165'.  Baywatch Isthmus was released following the arrival of the MAC doctor. 
15:34 Baywatch Redondo Responded to Flat Rock for a capsized 12 skiff with 3 POB. Skiff righted and persons rescued from offshore rocks. Assisted by Area 15, LR 100, and especially 14-1. Skiff was overloaded for conditions.

02:53 Baywatch Avalon responded to a local residence for an 86 year old male with a medical complaint.  Patient was assessed, treated and transported to the local hospital for further evaluation and care.
04:38 Baywatch Isthmus was dispatched to Camp Emerald Bay for a report of a sick person, possibly w an appendicitis.  The patient was assessed and treated.  The patient was flown w/ copter 18 to Mainland Hospital.
10:07 Baywatch Avalon, responds to  Float 4, Avalon Harbor, 25-year-old female with abdominal pain. The patient was treated and transported to Avalon Hospital.
13:50 Baywatch Avalon, respond to Chimes Tower in Avalon, golf cart roll over with one minor injury. No transport.
15:27 Baywatch Avalon, respond to 102 Crescent, 68-year-old male that fell off the curb in his wheel chair. Multiple injuries were sustained. The patient was treated and transported to local Hospital.
 
3/20
07:58 Baywatch Isthmus was dispatched to the CAT Harbor float for a 13 year old female with a back injury. She was evaluated and transported to local hospital.
08:50 Baywatch Avalon respond to Long Point for patient transfer from Baywatch Isthmus.
1350 Baywatch Malibu Responds to cliff rescue @ El Matededor along with Engine 99.
14:00 Baywatch Cabrillo, Ocean Rescue Boat distress 1 mile sw off pt. Fermin and 100 yards from shore, 24ft Outboard with 2 persons on board, vessel towed to Cabrillo launch ramp.

3/21
11:41 Baywatch Avalon responded out to camp fox for an 11 year old female feeling weak, dizzy, and nauseated for the last two days.  Patient was assessed, treated, transported back to Avalon and up to the local hospital for further evaluation and care.
13:46 Baywatch Isthmus, responds to Isthmus Harbor  a 42 foot Grand Banks taking on water at Little Geiger Cove. The vessel was checked, pumped, and repaired. The vessel was released to its owners.

3/22
09:30 Baywatch Marina del Rey provided safety for 70 person 5 mile paddleboard, stand up paddleboard, surfski and outrigger race in MDR.
11:10 Baywatch Marina del Rey respond to Commercial Fishing Boat "Betty O" for assistance with a Medivac.
12:00 Baywatch Malibu/BWS Provided safety for 80 person surfski, and 1 man outrigger canoe race 14 miles  from Malibu to MDR
14:38 Baywatch Marina del Rey respond to a Boat on Beach at Dockweiler 46, Boat towed safely off shore, and towed back to MDR.
19:20 Baywatch Isthmus Treat/release finger hyperextension with no neurovascular compromise.
 
3/23
05:15 Baywatch Avalon respond to a male child brought to the Avalon Fire Dept    Station in need of medical attention.  Patient was treated and transported to local hospital.
