The Avalon Hotel on Catalina Island has been named one of the Top Ten Places for Romance in the United States by TripAdvisor, the web's leading traveler review site.

Millions of travelers offer their reviews of hundreds of thousands of hotels, resorts and destinations on TripAdvisor, which offers travelers a chance to base their decisions on the experiences of their peers. Each year, utilizing those reviews as well as a measurement of overall traveler satisfaction, TripAdvisor awards its Travelers' Choice Awards. This year's awards include dozens of categories separated into several regions throughout the world.

This is the second year the hotel has been honored by TripAdvisor, which last year named The Avalon one of the country's Best Hidden Gems.

Featuring classic Craftsman style, ocean views and a dramatic roof-top deck, The Avalon has become a favorite of Island visitors. Custom bath amenities, flat-screen televisions and Supplepedic mattresses pamper guests, who also enjoy local art, warm hospitality and understated elegance.

The indulgence package features the traditional gifts of the season, champagne and chocolates, along with transportation and a night in one of the garden rooms for $395 per couple.

The decadence package includes gourmet chocolates, rose petals, champagne and a couple's 50-minute massage. Transportation aboard one of Catalina Express's high-speed catamarans and a night in a balcony room complete the experience, which is $695 per couple.
