Catalina Island Medical Center will be offering a mini-health fair for West End residents on Friday, Feb. 1. Featuring free screenings for a number of diseases and conditions, the fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Isthmus Plaza.
Blood tests for diabetes and high cholesterol will be offered, as will vision and hearing screenings and assessments of blood pressure and body mass index.
Those who attend will also be able to learn more about the West End provider visits that will begin this summer.
"This summer, we will be offering monthly satellite medical clinics in Two Harbors," said Deanna Stover, Medical Group Office manager. "Providers will be offering basic medical care, including physicals and well child checks."
CIMC's Social Services and Grants Manager Dawn Sampson said that the provider visits will allow CIMC to serve patients who otherwise have to travel nearly an hour to Avalon - or even further - to receive medical care. A United States Health Resources Services Administration grant is funding the visits, which will be offered at the Isthmus Plaza.
