Again, weather is the top story for February. Ten rainy days dropped over 6.14 inches of rain, bringing a total of 13.14 inches in two months and the season rainfall from Sept to date to 21.31 inches. In addition to rain, there were 6 SCA and 2 gale warnings. With 3 weekends of bad weather conditions, boat traffic in February was slower than usual. Harbor personnel were kept busy putting floats/docks in and out and assisting boaters. Over 500 divers and volunteers participated in the 24-1/2 Annual Avalon Harbor Underwater Cleanup on Saturday, February 27th. Avalon Harbor got a superb underwater spring-cleaning with over 2.33 tons of trash collected. The event is very popular as this is the only time diving is allowed in the Harbor.
Winter rates continue through Palm Sunday. Boaters who are moored in the harbor and pay 2 days in advance will receive the next 5 consecutive days free.
