Weather in March was not the best for boaters visiting Catalina Island, with 8 SCA occurring mostly on weekends. Harbor Patrol Officers were kept busy removing and installing dinghy docks with each SCA received. Rosie's Fish Market, Joe's Rent-a-Boat and the Wetspot all opened for the season during the last week of March. The annual St. Patrick's Day Cruise to Avalon by Shoreline Yacht Club was over the weekend of March 18th. The pump out float was hauled out of the water for 6 weeks to install a new bottom, plumbing and pumps. While the dock is out of service, boaters can us the Pump-A-Head and fresh water installed on the shore side of Float 5.

April will be busy with the Conservancy Ball on the 2nd and the Rubber Duck Race on the 10th. The Hollywood Yacht Club will visit Catalina Island with 15 to 20 boats. The Long Beach Yacht Club race to Long Point will be held on Saturday, March 9th.
In addition to the weekly visits by cruise ships Paradise (Tuesdays) and Monarch of the Seas (Wednesdays), the Mercury will visit Avalon on April 13th, 20th and 26th.
The shoulder rate started began Thursday, March 24th and continues until June 15th. Boaters who are in the Harbor and pay for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in advance will receive Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday free.
