Avalon Harbor Activity Report - April 2005

April boat traffic was a slower than usual with 5 SCA warnings and 1 gale warning during the month. The Hollywood Yacht Club visited the harbor on April 1st. and the Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club visited on April 22nd.

The Long Beach Yacht Club annual race to Long Point and the 10th Annual Catalina Conservancy Ball were both held on Saturday, April 2nd.  Hundreds of rubber ducks hit the water for the annual Rubber Ducky Derby on Sunday, April 10th.

April 2005 stats are as follows:

Hard to believe Memorial Day is just around the corner and the summer season is near.  The City end float, Island Navigation's pier end float and the swim line will all be installed in May. Cruise ship activity will increase with special visits to Catalina Island by the "VEENDAM" on May 3rd, the "MERCURY" on May 6th, the "SUMMIT" on May 7th and the "NORWEIGIAN STAR" on May 9th.

The Dana Point Yacht Club, Sunset Aquatic Yacht Club, Hunting Harbor Yacht Club will all visit Avalon Harbor in the month of May. 

The shoulder rate continues until June 15th.  Boaters who are in the Harbor and pay for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in advance will receive the following Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday free.
