Posted: Wednesday, June 01, 2005 - Avalon Harbor Dept

Even with cloudy weather, the harbor was full over Memorial Day Weekend, with several vessels side tied and anchored up and down the coast. Big thanks to all boaters using the dinghy docks and following the posted regulations. In May, 104 dinghies were tagged for 72 hours and not one dinghy was cited.

May was a very busy month in the Harbor with 6 visiting yacht clubs and 4 additional cruise ships stopping in Avalon.  The visiting yacht clubs included Dana Point YC, Sunset Aquatic YC, WSA Club, Huntington Harbor YC, Catalina Sailing Fleet and the Huntington Harbor YC.  In addition to the weekly visit from "PARADISE" (Tuesdays) and "MONARCH OF THE SEAS (Wednesdays), cruise ships  "VEENDAM", "SUMMIT", "NORWEGIAN STAR" and "MERCURY" all visited Avalon.  Passenger counts for May 2005 were 28,703 compared to 21,645 during May 2004.

On June 15th, the shoulder rate will end and the daily rate begins.
