This Sunday afternoon, The Catalina Island Humane Society is holding a fun BBQ and fund raising event, in support of our dedicated local veterinarian, Dr. Richard Denney.  We'd love to have you join us!

As you may already know, Dr. Denney was notified by the State of California that his facility, Animal Hospital of Catalina,  is in violation of certain State regulations (mainly  due  to current space limitations--basically, the space he has is too small).  Dr. Denney is given the use of this small space by the CI Humane Society, which has a lease agreement with the SCI Company. 

Now, thanks to the SCI Company, the CI Humane Society has acquired the space needed to help with State compliance issues!  The space, however, does need extensive remodeling and renovation work.  The CI Humane Society will have to accomplish this, and is asking the community for donations of financial support, and for volunteered time.

Here in our Island community, we are so fortunate to have Dr. Denney, a permanent, reliable and exceptional veterinarian to care for our local animals!  "'Dr. D' has always gone above and beyond the call of duty," says CI Humane Society President Jennifer Agresta.  "He often opens his office at odd hours for emergencies, travels all over the Island to treat animals, and has even taken animals to his own home to provide a watchful eye overnight for those that need special attention. . . Now it is our turn to be able to help this amazing man and come together as a community to show how much we appreciate and need him to remain here in Avalon. . . ."

Please join us for an afternoon celebrating our local veterinarian!
What?  A fun BBQ and fund raiser, on Sunday, August 26, 2007 - 12 noon to 3 p.m.!
Where?  In front of the CIHS Trailer/Dr. Denney's Office!

Why?  To show our support for Dr. Denney and contribute to this vital effort to keep him here on the Island for our animals' necessary care, by helping CIHS provide a facility that is adequate to satisfy State of California regulations, and for the doctor's needs in caring for our animals!

All money raised at this event will be put toward the "compliance fund" set up to be able to help with these and other associated costs. 

Any donation can be mailed to CI Humane Society at PO Box 1584, Avalon, CA 90704-1584.  Please make checks payable to Catalina Island Humane Society so that your donation can be considered tax deductible.  If you wish your donation to be restricted to this "compliance fund", please so indicate in the memo portion of your check.
