In case you haven't yet heard, there has been a major, nationwide, voluntary pet food recall, with over 40 brands of cat food and dog food having been affected, including
Iams, Eukanuba, Purina and Science Diet, as well as certain store brands distributed by Wal-mart, Kroger, and Safeway, among others. The recall covers "cuts and gravy" style dog food and cat food, consisting of chunks or slices of meat in gravy, sold in cans and foil pouches. Menu foods, a major producer of pet food, announced the recall late last week. Since eating the affected pet food, many cats and dogs have suffered severe kidney failure, and at least ten animals are known to have died. If you have fed this food to your animals and they are showing signs of illness, of course, contact your veterinarian immediately!
A complete list of the recalled pet foods, along with product codes, descriptions, and productions dates is available at: http://www.menufoods.com/recall, or phone (866) 463-6738.
