After four years serving the patients of Catalina Island Medical Center, Dr. Peter Trottier will be leaving the island at the end of August. Trottier and his wife are expecting their first child in July. She works as a neuro-intensive care nurse at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach
Although he has not accepted another position, Trottier and his wife Lori plan to relocate to Colorado. "Somewhere we can afford to buy a home and live together," he said. Trottier said he would like to take a few months off with his new baby before looking for another job. The doctor said that he has appreciated the variety of experiences that working at CIMC has given him. "I've had the opportunity to learn and do so much on Catalina Island," he said. "It's been challenging and rewarding."
Trottier's colleagues at CIMC said that the doctor had worked hard behind the scenes to improve the medical facility. "Dr. Trottier has done a lot as chief of staff to make the hospital more efficient," said Karla Parsons, CIMC's family nurse practitioner. "He has made our health care delivery system more effective for our residents and visitors."
CIMC Administrator Bill Greene said Trottier would be difficult to replace. "Dr. Trottier has done much to improve the health of the Catalina Island community," Greene added. "We wish him luck with his new home and the new addition to his family."
The Avalon Medical Development Corporation Board of Directors, which oversees operations at CIMC, has already begun the search for a new physician. Advertisements announcing the position have been placed in several family practice physician magazines.
