We wish everyone a very happy and healthy New Year. Boating activity was slow in January due to 7 SCA warnings, 1 gale warning and 8 days of rain bringing 7 inches of much needed water. Last January only had .2 inches of rain. With the reservoir overflowing, water rationing ended. Winter rates continue through Palm Sunday. Boaters who are moored in Avalon Harbor and pay 2 days in advance will receive the next 5 consecutive days free.
January 2005 stats are as follows: People aboard boats: 1,416 Vessels moored: 354 Vessels anchored: 107 Lost/stolen reports: 2 reported lost/8 found Accident reports: NONE Avg. Temp: high 63 low 46 Avg. With good weather, Valentines Day and two three-day weekends, harbor activity should pick up. The annual conservancy cleanup dive-the only time diving is allowed in Avalon Harbor-- will be held on February 26th.
