While on routine patrol harbor officers found a skiff adrift. The skiff was secured to a mooring and a report filed.

Harbor officers observed an inflatable moving at a high rate of speed inside Avalon Harbor. The operator was warned and advised of Avalon Municipal Code regarding speed of vessels.

Harbor officers observed another inflatable moving at a high rate of speed near moorings in Hamilton Cove. Officers warned and advised the operator of Avalon Municipal Code regarding speed of vessels.

Monday, April 17, 2006

Harbor officers received a complaint regarding a generator running after hours. Officers located the vessel and warned and advised the owner of Avalon Municipal Code regarding generator operation.

Harbor officers received a weather bulletin Small Craft Advisory for West winds 15 to 25 knots. Officers raised the red flag to alert boaters of the forecasted weather.

Harbor officers responded to a vessel that lost power in Avalon Harbor.  Officers took the vessel under tow and secured it to a mooring.

Harbor officers notified code enforcement of an injured Pelican at Float 5 Avalon Harbor.

Harbor officers responded to Float 4 where a vessel reported heavy black smoke coming from the port side of their vessel. Officers boarded the vessel and engines were shut down during the investigation. It was determined that exhaust insulation had been overheated and produced the black smoke.

Harbor officers responded to an Avalon mooring where a vessel had wrapped its propellers in mooring lines. The vessel was secured by officers and a diver called.

Thursday April 20, 2006

Harbor officers received two reports of missing cats from vessels during their stay in Avalon Harbor. Officers searched the harbor however nothing was found.

Harbor officers received a call for medical assistance for a person aboard a cruise ship anchored off Avalon Harbor. Dispatched Baywatch, County and City Fire units to assist.

Friday April 21, 2006

Harbor officers received a call from US Coast Guard regarding a skiff that a navy hovercraft found near Camp Pendleton.  The skiff belonged to an Avalon man and a message was relayed to the owner.

Harbor officers received three complaints regarding generators running after hours. Owners were warned and advised of Avalon Municipal Code regarding generator use.

Harbor officers were notified of a vessel colliding with a moored vessel on an Avalon mooring. The operator of the moving vessel was contacted and a accident report filed.

While on routine patrol Harbor officers found a rigid bottom inflatable adrift. The inflatable was secured to a mooring and a report filed.

Harbor officers received a report of a 31' trawler in the Casino dive park. Officers responded and the trawler was guided out of the park. The vessel was taken into tow and secured to a mooring.

Harbor officers observed a inflatable being operated at a high rate of speed through the moorings. Officers contacted the operator and warned and advised him of Avalon Municipal code regarding speed.

Harbor officers were notified of an alarm going off on a commercial charter vessel moored in Avalon. Officers boarded the vessel and investigated. A high water alarm appeared to be malfunctioning. The owner was notified of the findings.

While on routine patrol officers noted that two vessels moored and were in close proximity. The vessels lines were adjusted in order to prevent damage to either vessel.
