Weather in March was not the best for boaters visiting Catalina Island, with 8 SCA and one gale force warning occurring mostly on weekends accounted for lower than usual boating activity. Harbor Patrol Officers were kept busy removing and installing dinghy docks with each SCA received. The season is quickly approaching----The Fish Market, Joe's Rent-a-Boat and Wetspot all prepared for opening the first week in April. The annual St. Patrick's Day Cruise to Avalon by Shoreline Yacht Club (40 boats) was the weekend of March 18th.

April will be busy with the 11th annual Conservancy Ball on the 1st and the Rubber Duck Race on the 9th. The Hollywood Yacht Club will visit Catalina Island with 15 to 20 boats the weekend of April 7th and 8th.
In addition to the weekly visits by cruise ships Paradise (Tuesdays) and Monarch of the Seas (Wednesdays), the Dawn Princess will visit Avalon on April 10th, 20th and 30th and the Infinity will visit April 19th.
The shoulder rate goes into effect Thursday, April 13th and continues until June 15th. Boaters who are in the Harbor and pay for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in advance will receive Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday free.
