The Catalina Island Humane Society has started off the new year with a new Board and new volunteers to assist in the vital work of serving our domestic animal community needs. All are enthusiastic about the organization's long-standing mission, which includes protecting needy animals, seeking homes for animals who are ready for adoption into loving homes, and neutering homeless cats. This year, the office of president is being shared by two relatively new volunteers: Jennifer Agresta and Olivia Hernandez. Both are enthusiastic with many new ideas supportive of our goals!
Katherine Tatis is the new secretary, also bringing to the post her skills at organizational promotion and public relations.
Well-known for her compassion toward all animals, Tammy Scott, Avalon's long-time code enforcement and animal control officer, has joined the Board. She hopes to increase her knowledge about humane protection of the animals who share our life.
Leah Unatin, a new resident of Catalina Island, is excited about helping to develop much-needed animal humane education programs, especially programs geared toward youngsters in school!
Allyn Bryan's contributions to the organization have included her original development of the CI Humane Society website (www.catalinahumane.org) as well as creating and offering unique animal-related products which promote the group and generate very necessary funding!
Tammie Katin, who began doing bookkeeping work for the group last year, now serves as the new treasurer.
Past president Dianne Stone, past secretary Marti Winslow, Pasadena Humane Society executive director Steve McNall, and Avalon's Stacey Otte now serve as an advisory committee to assist the group's new Board with various needs, goals and projects.
The Catalina Island Humane Society heartily welcomes one and all!
