Avalon Harbor Department is now developing a hiring list for the following part time position: Harbor Patrol Officer - Part Time. Must be able pass a background investigation and qualify for Peace Officer training. Must be 18 years of age and have a valid California driver's license.

Definition:
Under general supervision, to assign boats to moorings; Assist the boating public in securing mooring; collect fees; Patrol harbor area by boat, foot and car; Explain and enforce harbor usage rules; Provide weather and sea condition information to the National Weather Service and the general public; Respond to emergency situations; Work with other law enforcement agencies, fire, rescue, paramedics and others as required; Perform other job related duties as required.

Applications may be obtained from the Finance Department at Avalon City Hall.  All applications must be turned in by 4:00pm on March 10, 2006.  It is important that all applications show education and experience relevant to the position.  Incomplete applications will be rejected.  The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligibility list for the position of Harbor Patrol Assistant.

Selection Procedure:
Applications will be screened and those candidates possessing the most relevant experience will be invited to participate in an oral interview.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES YEAR ROUND AVAILABLILTY TO WORK  5 DAYS A WEEK IN THE SUMMER SEASON AND BE AVAILABLE FOR RELIEF WORK IN THE WINTER.
