LA County Rescue Boat Weekly Activity - Week ending November 16, 2008

For the week of November 10-16, 2008.

11/10 Small Craft Advisory
07:36 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call, female had medical complaint. The patient is dependent on and electric powered oxygen machine, a bottle of O2 was left with the patient until her power is restored.
08:20-09:45 Baywatch Santa Monica Respond to Public Assist safety stand by for Sea Tow del Rey as they attempted to remove a contract tow of a $350,000 50' sailboat grounded at Dockweiler 44.  3 attempts all failed to move the vessel. Will return at Tuesdays 06:54 AM high tide.
09:45-10:25 Baywatch Santa Monica Respond to Ocean Rescue Dockweiler 47 skin dive recovery of 10' sailing skiff from above grounded vessel. Vessel brought to surface dewatered and towed to MDR launch ramp and released to owner.
15:00 Baywatch Isthmus Respond to Public Assist US Coast Guard asks for assistance in evaluating vessel that sunk on the Coast Guard Mooring can and took it to the bottom with it. Deckhand dove vessel and Sector, Pollution and Waterways advised of condition/situation of vessel.

10:00 Baywatch Marina del Rey assist Whale Rescue Team w/ Pelican rescue
12:45 Baywatch Cabrillo Body Recovery off White Point, Female of undetermined age, 25' fishing vessel was the reporting party. Body turned over to the LACO Corner at the USCG Station, Terminal Island.
13:00-16:00 Baywatch Redondo, Baywatch Santa Monica on Move Ups
13:06 Baywatch Cabrillo Respond to Ocean Rescue and a EMS call, Man overboard in full arrest and a would be rescuer, both in the water off the commercial fishing vessel "AYYA" 7 miles South East of the Los Angeles Light, near the "Whiskey Buoy". Victim and would be rescuer taken aboard Baywatch Cabrillo and worked up and transported to awaiting paramedics at L.A. City Fire boat 5 station.

15:16 Baywatch Cabrillo Respond to Ocean Rescue to a capsized 18' I/O with persons in the water near the Long Beach  Sea Buoy, 3 miles South Southeast of the Long Beach Light Passengers recovered and vessel towed in by the long beach Lifeguard vessel.
16:55 Baywatch Isthmus Respond to EMS Call, male w/parent-Possible broken finger-Splinted and advised to seek further treatment at local Hospital..

10:00 All Boats-Golden Guardian Earthquake Drill
01:09 hrs Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call,- Crew responded to a local hotel for a male with medical complaint.  Patient treated and transported to the local hospital for further evaluation and care.
12:47 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS Call, Baywatch Avalon and AFD responded to male with a medical complaint. The patient was treated and transported with Baywatch Avalon paramedics to the hospital.
14:58 Baywatch Malibu Respond top Public Assist, Dispatched to a report of an unknown yellow object floating in the water 300yds south of carbon canyon. We arrived o/s to a severely damaged pontoon from a hobie cat. No other debris in area. Pontoon brought on board and released to LG 331 At surf rider for disposal.
15:25 Baywatch Santa Monica Boat Distress @ Hyperion Pipe Towed to MDR

01:43 Baywatch Marina del Rey 911 call of Boat on Beach at DWN- after search vessel determined to be same boat that was grounded during gales on 11/9

00:08 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call, male with medical complaint. The patient was treated and transported to local Hospital.
02:05 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call, called back to the same residence for the same patient that was released from the hospital 20 minutes prior to having another medical complaint. The patient was transported to mainland Hospital for further care.
09:00 Baywatch Marina del Rey Respond to EMS call, medical complaint on commercial fishing boat .
10:53 Baywatch Marina del Rey & Baywatch Santa Monica Respond to EMS call, Altered LOC unconscious male on 28' boat off Venice. 
13:26 Baywatch Isthmus respond to EMS call, Female with medical complaint. Patient signed out AMA and was advised to re-contact if symptoms returned.
14:15 Baywatch Malibu Respond to Ocean Rescue Dispatched to a windsurfer in distress 1/2 mi E of Latigo point. Arrived on scene to a windsurfer with a broken mast. Victim and craft brought onboard and released to LR300 at Corral beach.
17:46 Baywatch Isthmus Respond to EMS call, female with medical complaint.  Assessed/treated at Baywatch Isthmus station.  Refused further treatment/transport and signed out AMA after talking to nurse at Torrance Base.
18:19-19:00 Baywatch Marina del Rey Respond to Ocean Rescue 30' Sailboat in distress w/6 POB @ MDR entrance.

12:47-14:20 Baywatch Marina del Rey rendezvous w/Baywatch Malibu to pick up tow off 22' powerboat w/3 POB DIW off Los Tunas
13:10  Baywatch Santa Monica Overturned Kayak 150 yds off N. Channel, 71 yr old female and 69  year old male struggling to stay afloat & unable to re-board kayak.
15:35 Baywatch Santa Monica recovered one of the WR 4 Portable toilets floating 500 yds offshore WR 8.
15:23  Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call Female with trauma. The patient was treated on scene and transported to a trauma ctr via LASD helo Air 5.
16:21 Baywatch Redondo Respond to Ocean Rescue. Towed broken down 21'vessel with impending darkness to their slip in King Harbor. 2POB
17:24 Baywatch Isthmus Respond to EMS Call, male with medical complaint. Extensive psychiatric history and not responding to prescribed anti-anxiety medications. Transported to local Hospital.
18:00 Baywatch Avalon LGEMS An 82-year-old male had a syncopal episode in a local restaurant. The patient was treated and refused transport to a mainland hospital; the patient was taken to AHM.
