LA County Rescue Boat Weekly Activity - Week ending November 2, 2008

For the week of October 27- November 2, 2008.

10/27
10:00 Baywatch Marina del Rey Chris Craft training boat towed to RBHP for DBW Boating Operators Course through thick fog
10:33 Baywatch Isthmus EMS Call, respond to the Dive chamber to meet the 6590 with a Male patient from the dive vessel "Peace" from Santa Barbara Island.  The patient had a medical complaint.  The patient was assessed and treated by PM's.  Torrance Memorial and the MAC were contacted.  An MD from USC flew in with copter 19 and took over care of the patient.  The patient was flown to mainland Hospital.  No chamber treatment was given.
12:02-15:00 Baywatch Marina del Rey, Baywatch Redondo Ocean Rescue in route to 41'sail w/6 POB taking on water six miles offshore of King Harbor, 11 miles from MDR, Baywatch Marina del Rey on scene dewatered and towed to MDR
12:02 Baywatch Santa Monica covering for Baywatch Marina del Rey & Baywatch Redondo
13:08 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call, female with medical complaint, the patient was assessed and signed AMA.

11:26 Baywatch Isthmus  Respond to EMS call, female with medical complaint, treated and transported to Avalon for follow up care.
16:05 Baywatch Cabrillo  Ocean Rescue, respond to a 22'I/O w/ 2 POB going aground 25 yards off Point Fermin. Vessel taken in tow and secured at the launch ramp
16:39 Baywatch Avalon Ocean Rescue respond to a 20-foot sailboat was taking on water 3 miles north of Avalon with 2 POB. The leak was fixed and the vessel was released on its own power.

10:46 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call, Female with medical complaint, initiate treatment at scene, transport to local Hospital in AFD Rescue 6.
22:15-23:00 Baywatch Marina del Rey escort 20' Sail lost in fog to MDR

11:00 Baywatch Malibu Ocean Rescue responded to an overturned kayak 1POB 400 yds west of the Malibu pier. Victim and kayak rescued and returned to the beach.
17:18 Baywatch Malibu  Ocean Rescue responded to a 20'powerboat 8 POB against the rocks inside the main channel Marina del Rey west of the UCLA dock. No injuries vessel towed away from the rocks and released to MDR harbor patrol.
19:59 Baywatch Cabrillo Ocean rescue respond to the outside of the East Break wall, Long Beach. 26' Tiara I/O w/ 3 POB going aground, then on the rocks. Call started as a vessel assist call who took the operator to Ch.78 for comms, Response was further delayed by thick fog. Visibility down to 50'. Baywatch Cabrillo 1st on scene, Long Beach FD/LG had 1 of their boats down for maintenance, and the other one tied up on another call. LBFD/LG relieved us of the tow about 2140.

11:46 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call, respond to the hospital to assist with care and transport of a  female.  Baywatch Avalon, R4 transported the patient to the LZ and transferred care to Copter 19.
14:30 Baywatch Avalon conducted a decreased visibility navigation drill in the local area .
17:15 Baywatch Malibu Ocean Rescue Responded 2 pier jumpers on the south side of the Venice Pier. Both persons rescued and assisted to shore to await LAPD for citation.
23:00 Baywatch Marina del Rey Ocean Rescue in to route SM pier for 2 pier jumpers. Jumpers found and escorted back to shore for citation.

09:05 Baywatch Redondo Ocean Rescue respond to Manhattan Pier to assist guards with triathlon training group being swept into the pier. Search of area for any stragglers, all persons safely ashore.

08:00 Baywatch Marina del Rey Jonathan Club Swim safety escort from SM15-Club
14:32 Baywatch Cabrillo Ocean Rescue respond to  12' sailboat lost rudder. 2pob, no injuries, vessel towed back to C.B.Y.C.
16:34 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call, female with medical complaint, the patient was released on scene.
