This Sunday, November 9th at 10:00 AM, Calvary Bible Church hosts a special Bible Teaching Fellowship Service in the front lobby of the U.S. Bank Building, 303 Crescent Avenue (near the corner of Crescent & Metropole), offering a study of the Book of Revelation, a unique look at the Church in the last years of the first century and a picture of the "End Times" yet to come.
Pastor Jason Gant concludes his teaching of the first four chapters of Revelation, dictated to the Apostle John by Jesus Himself and directed specifically to the Christians of yesteryear and today. In brief notes to the seven churches of Asia, Christ admonishes the first century Christians to avoid the entanglements of false teachers and misguided religion and to stay focused on Him. He tells all of us to just "hang in there" and to keep our eyes on our inheritance, a joyful eternal life with Him in His heavenly kingdom, by avoiding sin and trusting only in Him for our salvation.
Paul echoes this message in his letters to the early Church, by telling us that the death of Jesus Christ saves us from sin -- we do not save ourselves. Trying to be "a good person" or doing good deeds does not lead to salvation. Peter, as well, reminds us "there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12) It is only by our repentance of sin and direct commitment to Jesus Christ -- not belonging to a particular religion, following a church denomination, or doing "good works" -- that changes in our life and our eternal salvation are assured. Are you ready to make this direct commitment to Him? Join us this Sunday and learn how your own resurrection from death and your eternal rest in heaven can be assured through a personal, loving relationship today with Jesus Christ, a relationship that began with an empty tomb on the most important morning in history!
Each week's study is taught by Pastor Jason Gant, bringing you the loving and living Word of God from the Bible, chapter-by-chapter, verse-by-verse. Everyone is welcomed, and transportation is happily provided. Attendees at this Sunday's service will have the opportunity to ask their Bible questions and take part in a brief discussion period after the teaching. Our "Coffee & Carbs Fellowship" follows immediately afterwards. Prayer Fellowship meets every Thursday at 12:00 PM in the beautiful, shaded park across from City Hall. Bring your lunch and join us for prayer and cast all of your cares on Jesus, the Great Physician of us all! For more information, please call 310-510-3003.
