Held once a year for more than two decades, the auction is the primary fund-raiser for the co-op preschool. It features hundreds of craft items, dozens of silent auction packages and a vast array of raffle prizes.
Crafts that will liven up the bidding this year include two solid oak tables inlaid with tile, a children's picnic table, a sea glass lamp and a carved wooden and tile box. Jewelry, quilts, art work and other decorative items will also be available. All will be auctioned off during a live auction that attracts dozens of bidders.
The live craft auction will be just the beginning of the fun. There will also be a silent auction featuring getaways, dinners and a selection of one-of-a-kind experiences. Throughout the evening, door prizes donated by local merchants will also be awarded. The grand prize raffle, which this year will send two lucky winners to either Las Vegas or Santa Barbara, will be drawn at the end of the evening.
"Since 1970 PLAY pre-school has given local children a safe place to grow and learn, said Sara Hall, the PLAY Pre-school board president. "We're so grateful the community has always been there to support Catalina's youngest residents and we hope that everyone will come out and join us Nov. 7."
Doors will open at 5 p.m. at the Catalina Island Yacht Club. Cost is $5, which includes dinner, dessert and a raffle ticket.
Crafters who would like to donate to the event may call the pre-school at (310) 510-2324.
