LA County Rescue Boat Activity - Week ending September 28, 2008

For the week of September 22-28, 2008.

9/22
0800  BWT & Dive 1 To Avalon for reserve diver checkout.   

9/23
1353 Baywatch Isthmus Respond to EMS call, Responded to Isthmus Pier for female with possible allergic reaction, history of same 2 days earlier. Patient assessed and transported to Avalon for follow up care.
1430 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call, continued transport of a female initially
treated by Baywatch Isthmus for allergic reaction. Transport to Avalon Harbor, taken to local Hospital by AFD Rescue 6.

9/24
1145 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call, Called to assess a patient brought ashore by Cruise ship. Male, with no medical complaint possible psych/behavior per ship's physician. Released to Sheriff's Deputy.
1450 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call, Female with medical complaint 'feeling sick'. Patient Assessed, possible heat exhaustion. Refusing treatment/transport to hospital.  Released after sign AMA.
1905 BWD Respond to Ocean Rescue, requested by USCG Sector LA to respond to a 18' vessel  aground at MDR harbor entrance.  NFIRS# 217114

1608 Baywatch Avalon; Respond to EMS call, crew responded to a medical call; female with a medical condition; patient assessed, treated and transported to local hospital for further evaluation and care.
2301 BWD Respond to EMS call,  Cancelled en route, NFIRS# 0218013

1515 Baywatch Malibu; Brush Assignment - Stand by paradise cove for water safety for Quebec 1 and Heli tanker 743 scooping water for brush fire on Kanan RD at tunnel #1.
1857 Baywatch Isthmus dispatched to the campground for a report of an injured person. The patient was assessed, treated and released.
1950 Baywatch Isthmus dispatched to the isthmus campground for a report of an injured person. The patient was assessed, treated and released.
2326 Baywatch Isthmus Respond to EMS call, a report of an injured person at the Isthmus Harbor office. The patient was assessed and treated for minor injuries following a fall.

0800 Lifeguard Candidate Swim Exam at SM 24
0937 Baywatch Isthmus Respond to EMS call, to the Isthmus Campground, campsite number 20 for a  report of a child having a seizure.  Upon arrival, the patient was assessed and  treated.  The patient was released to his parent after Torrance Memorial was  contacted.  An AMA was signed.
1530 Baywatch Avalon Responded to EMS call, male with trauma call. A visitor staying by himself in a rental.  Pt had been drinking and fell. Transported to local Hospital.
1930 Baywatch Isthmus Respond to EMS call, to the Isthmus Pier for a report of an injured person. The patient was treated for a laceration and released.
1904 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call,  to "The Lobster Trap" for male c/o dizziness.  Pt. assessed and transported to local Hospital for further assessment and observation.
2355 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call, to the Chi Chi Club for an extremely combative female.  Pt. assessed and treated.  Baywatch Avalon crew unable to control bleeding.  Pt. transported to local Hosptal for helicopter staging.  After numerous attempts to find helicopter transport the patient, Baywatch Cabrillo was added to the ticket for transport to the mainland. Section 5, USCG Sector LA, FCCF, SRBC Troeger, BWD, and Torrance Base all notified.  Shortly after getting underway, Baywatch Cabrillo loses radar and GPS and is forced to return to quarters.  Pt. released to care of M.D. at local Hospital. Pt eventually signs out AMA ..

9/28
0645 Baywatch Isthmus Boat assist Vessel reported taking on water. Small amount of water pumped out, no more coming in.
1045 BWS Respond to Ocean Rescue 18' I/O disabled MDR North Channel.  Towed to launch ramp.  Sheriffs were unavailable for relief of tow.  
1145 Baywatch Avalon Respond to Ocean Rescue Baywatch Avalon rescues a 20 foot Bayliner, 6POB 10 feet off Frog Rock. The vessel was taken in to tow to Avalon Harbor.
1154 Baywatch Isthmus  Respond to Ocean Rescue  to vessel "Pursuit" off Arrow point for report of person with head injury. Male patient with minor head laceration treated and released on scene.
1510 Baywatch Isthmus Respond to Ocean Rescue to Cabrillo Beach for a vessel going aground. On scene, 26' S/B with anchor line wrapped in rudder and anchor tangled in kelp. 28 y/o paraplegic solo sailor assisted in clearing anchor line and vessel towed back to Isthmus Harbor.
1550 BWS Respond to Ocean Rescue Requested by USCG Sector LA to respond to a vessel disabled off SM tower 26.  Vessel released to MDR Sherriff inside the north entrance. 
2200  Baywatch Isthmus  Respond to Ocean Rescue  to Goat Harbor for report of vessel aground, on scene reporting party advises vessel left area. Search U/W for vessel. Vessel located, deckhand dives on boat and advises severe damage to hull. Arrangements made for temporary repairs.
2201 Baywatch Avalon Respond to Ocean Rescue Search requested by the Coast Guard for a vessel that went aground in the Long Point area. Reporting party states it is west of Cabrillo Beach, Baywatch Isthmus will handle.
0417 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call, Crews evaluated a female. She was released on scene after refusing transport.
1645 Baywatch Redondo Respond to Ocean Rescue Vessel lost between Anacapa and Channel Islands harbor is DF'ed by Baywatch Santa Monica towards PV. Vessel is found and towed to King Harbor as they were out f fuel. Vessel fueled and will haul out at MDR.
0032 BWD Respond to Ocean Rescue  32' Power vessel disabled off Navy with 2 POB.  Towed to slip E2620. 

9/29 
1400 Baywatch Avalon Respond to EMS call, Female with medical complaint, begin treatment @ scene, transport to lo0cal Hospital, then to Pebbly Beach for helo trans to mainland Hospital.
