Catalina Gold Star Dive
Since 1997 the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in Avalon has been sponsoring the Catalina Gold Star Dive. The non-profit event raises funds to support local youth programs and to support the Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber.

The dive is held each year in July at the Casino Dive Park at Casino Point. Divers search for hidden gold stars that they exchange for prizes. Divers and non-divers are encouraged to participate in the raffle and enjoy lunch featuring "Ballast Burgers" and "Diver Dogs."
