How do I join a forum?
To participate in the forum, you will need to register to the forum. Click the join button to do so. The Terms and Conditions for using the forum will be presented . To join, simply provide the necessary information on the form to create a profile of yourself. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). When all the mandatory information has been provided, complete your request by selecting the "Join the Catalina Island Discussion Forum!" button. Your login information, including the login password, will be sent to the e-mail address indicated in the profile. Therefore, it is important to provide a valid e-mail address.

How do I participate in a forum?
To participate in a forum, you must be logged into the forum. To log in locate the login fields in the My Menu sidebar. Enter the username and password that was sent to you via e-mail, and select the "Login" button. The "Remember" checkbox will store your login information in a cookie, so that you will be logged in automatically when you return to the forums at another time.

How do I change my profile information?
It is your responsibility to keep the information in your profile current. In particular, you should ensure that your e-mail address is valid at all times. You can alter any of the fields in your profile, except your username. Once you have chosen your username, it is registered permanently in the forum. In extreme circumstances, you may request to change your username through the administrator. After logging into a forum, the profile button will appear in the Main Navigation bar.

Click on the profile button and the profile window will appear. You will see all the information that you had entered during the Join process. Make any necessary changes and click on the "Update Profile" button to proceed with the update. If you change your e-mail address, a new login password will be sent to the updated e-mail address.

What is a category, topic and message?
A category manages your topics into sections or groupings. This is a way of sorting your topics logically. A category is a sub-division of a forum that deals with a specific subject area within the larger subject of the forum.

A "topic" is a subject of discussion that appears in a category. A topic can also be called a "thread". A new topic is created anytime a forum member posts a new message that is not a reply to an existing message. .

A message is a word communication sent by one person to another user or multiple users. It can be the originating message that starts a new topic or it can be a response within an existing topic. Messages are also called "posts.".

Creating a Topic
Here are step by step instructions in creating your first Topic from start to finish.
1. Login to your FuseTalk Forum.
2. Upon logging in you will see categories, which are buckets to hold topics within. 3. To create a new topic, enter the category in which you want to create the topic and click the new topic tab on the Main Navigation bar.
4. The "Posting a Message" window will appear. Within this form, enter the message title and a brief summary of the topic under topic summary. Then, enter the message in the message text box.
5. Select the "Post Message" button when completed.
You have now completed creating a NEW topic.

Replying to a Message
Here are step by step instructions in replying to a Topic/message from start to finish.
1. Login to your FuseTalk Forum.
2. Upon logging in you will see categories, which are buckets to hold topics within.
3. Enter the category in which the topic you wish to reply to resides.
4. Enter the topic in which you want to reply to. You will see various message navigations on the bottom right of the current message/topic where you can reply, quote, edit, and delete.
5. Select the "Reply" link.
6. Enter the message title and a brief summary of the topic under topic summary. Then, enter the message in the message text box.
7. Select the "Post Message" button when completed.
You have now responded to an existing message in the topic.

Performing Searches
There are two methods in which you can perform searches within the forum. You can choose to perform a basic search, which requires a single keyword to be entered into the Search field that appears when you have entered a category. Alternatively, you can perform an advanced search by clicking on the search button, which appears in the Main Navigation bar.
